Unlike a 3DS it can also run N64, PSP, GC, PS2, Wii, WiiU, Vita, Switch and any android game/app. There's something to be said for having one device that can do so much instead of having to carry multiple other devices. Plus it will run 3DS games at 1080p instead of 240p so there's that.

The Thor looks phenomenal! I can carry one 3DS XL sized device and have access to so many games and systems.

I guess, if you don't want to be bothered with original hardware for those other game systems, don't mind playing home console games on a tiny screen, don't mind inaccurate emulation, and don't have a capable PC for emulating, then yeah it would have the advantage of playing those other systems. Upscaling older game systems is overrated. You're blowing out the image and showing detail that was never meant to be seen. Retro games look best on the original display technology whether it is a CRT or a 3D LCD at 400x240. Hell, an original system, a CRT, and an S-Video cable will give you a more authentic and better looking setup than the vast majority of emulators. Don't get me wrong. I would love an Ayaneo type device if it was FPGA and had 3D Visuals included along with better speakers. 

Anyway, these devices are mainly for Gen Z kids that have been conditioned to think that all tech dies within a decade and that retro games are expensive. Outside of Poke'mon and a handful of Atlus RPGs, the best of the DS and 3DS libraries are relatively cheap. 

Yeah, nothing beats CRT, though anything beats crappy low resolution LCDs...which is not the point of either this device or this thread.
