I just like Japan and have nothing but good experiences. To be honest my first choice was USA. But that country turned fascist, so I gave up on it. =P

I still think Japan is less likely to turn full fascist than many european countries are right now. I also thought about New Zealand. But then I was kinda into the challenge of Japan because of the language and the totally different culture. After about 4 months of learning 日本語, I can say that I am making some real progress. I can understand easy conversations and read mangas with furigana. I memorized about 700 Kanji according to Anki. Which motivates me even more.

But in the end, yeah it may be a dumb idea. But I'll still try. I will get there for four weeks in advance to kind of test the waters though. 

If you think many European countries are turning fascist, you might have a pretty low bar for what you consider fascism... Where are you from, if I may ask?
