Also yes, the backgrounds are wonderful, it feels retro in all the right ways.
Even the music gives a "final fantasy" feel (its by Nobuo Uematsu, also from final fantasy series).

Fixed it.  Nobuo Uematsu's best score in the last 20 years since leaving Square is still Lost Odyssey but Fantasian is very close to it in overall quality.
