The PS2 had many games that sold well over 10 million copies as did the PS1, the PS2 sold even more then the PS1 and there were far more high sales PS2 games then PS1 games. In no way did Nintendo "save" anything, gaming was doing just fine with it on the sidelines for the N64 and Gamecube years. They have provided a nice outlet to crap games like Imagine babies and bloom box, but thats about it; I was more then fine with gaming without a lot of those types of games myself.

Using old hardware with old style games is in no way original.
