Virtual Boy Announcement Means No Nintendo Console is Off Limits

How do you play touchscreen games on the Switch though where touchscreen inputs are required? Especially ones like Pokemon Ranger which basically can’t function without it.
Wii I can see it as the joycons do seem to have motion control functionality but I wasn’t sure how the DS games would work.
