I disagree. Nintendo’s pumping out Wii ports/remasters for $40-60 (Kirby:RtDL, DKCReturns, SMGalaxy1+2) unlike all other systems. I believe DS is next in-line. Virtual Boy reveals that Nintendo is open to producing accessories to better emulate the feeling of OG system; a dual screen Switch 2 accessory is not an unrealistic reality.

For arcade games like Shmups, Pinball games. There is something called Tate mode, and you turn the screen to the side, making it vertical. You would not need a second screen. Just the Switch 2 version of a flip grip. Not my pic but I have a Flip Grip for Switch 1. All it is is a frame that connects to one side of the Switch then you attach your own joycons. The flip grip was $12

Oh that's really interesting. I have always assumed DS/3DS will never come to NSO because you need a second screen, but given the $100 VB accessory, I could totally see Nintendo selling their own DS/3DS version of this flip grip product and add those systems to NSO eventually. That'd be cool. Would be by far the easiest way to handle the dual screen issue.

------------------------------

In terms of other systems, I don't see anymore non-Nintendo systems as some people suggested, because of money. People mentioned that the Virtual Console had other systems, yeah but that was a different economic model.

Those games were sold as standalone titles, so there was no limit to what games could go on the system - each game made it's own money. NSO is a subscription, which means Nintendo gets the same amount of money per user no matter how many systems they add. And Nintendo would have to pay other companies to put non-Nintendo systems/games on NSO. That's why it's a big deal the few times a non-Nintendo game, and when the Genesis as a whole, has been added to NSO, because they are literally handing part of their cut of NSO to other companies. And that's probably a big reason why NSO jumped from $20 all the way to $50 for the Expansion Pack when it came out with Genesis and N64. The only way we get more non-Nintendo systems is if they make a higher paid tier above the Expansion Pack, and I don't see that happening.

So, outside of the possibility of an official flip grip product for DS/3DS, we are left with just the question of Wii and WiiU. WiiU is a definite no, as most of the games people would want to play on it have already been ported to the Switch ecosystem last gen. The WiiU software has essentially already been entirely incorporated into the Switch library.

So the main question of the thread, outside of that DS/3DS possibility, is the Wii. Hmmm. We already got some Wii games ported to Switch, and now we are getting Galaxy 2. Either they keep going and port over a handful more games this gen, or they stop after Galaxy 2 and bring the Wii to NSO.

It'd be great to have Wii on NSO, but honestly at this point I feel like (from Nintendo's perspective), if they just port over Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3 (or Trilogy), there's not much in the way of big/popular/great Wii Nintendo-made games that wouldn't already be on the Switch ecosystem. So I guess that one comes down to the question of if they just want as many old Nintendo games as possible playable now, or if they really want NSO to have as many systems as possible to get more people subscribing. I could see Nintendo going either way with their intent and with the NSO.

Obviously for consumers having the Wii added would be great so you don't have to buy overpriced individual ports of two-decade old games, but looking out for their consumers isn't exactly high on Nintendo's priority list these days. MP3 and TP are the only glaring omissions from the Wii's days that Nintendo really needs to rectify soon, though with Wii on NSO we'd also get access to Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl which aren't games we'll ever see ported, so for some people who specifically miss those games in those series that'd be nice. Personally I'd be happy just to have MP3 and TP ported, but in an ideal world yeah they add the Wii to NSO.
