The first three games all did things we'd never experienced before. Especially the first and third. 64 was another, and then Sunshine with FlUDD. I suppose Wonder might classify, but it's a 50/50.

I guess what I meant to say is I don't like the idea of sub-sequels. Like Galaxy 2, or Odyssey 2 etc.

But that's just me. As someone on this site put it: I am an island person, not an ocean person.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. So… SMB1+3, Yoshi’s Island, SM64, SMSunshine, SMGalaxy, (maybe?) SM3DLand, SMOdyssey, and SMBWonder. Also, if you want that “newness” in a Mario Team platformer, DKBananza released two months ago. Good time to check that out!

This case is different. I was not talking about the Mario franchise as a whole, as in your example with Donkey Kong. I was talking about the Mario Galaxy content.

No no, we’re on the same page. (i) SMGalaxy 1+2 in October 2025, (ii) SMGalaxy Movie in April 2026, (iii) SMGalaxy new entry…?

Your Donkey Kong example: (i) A 2D platform game, (ii) an amusement park and (iii) 3D plataform game with a whole bunch of new ideas for the franchise

My example: (i) Galaxy 1+2, (ii) a movie about the Mario Galaxy games and (iii) Galaxy 3

In the Donkey Kong situation, we had the same franchise but more variety between each installment. In my examples, everything is Mario Galaxy
