Can we talk about amiibo prices? They went from 12,99-14,99 for the normal ones... To 29,99? I purchased the Samus + EMMI amiibos for 29,99 like 3 years ago. And now JUST Samus is 30? WTF?

And the Galaxy and Kirby ones? 40-50 dollars? Seriously? They sold the special Zelda and Loftwing amiibo not too long ago at 25.

They have doubled the price for amiibos just like that. Jesus Christ, between this, the game prices and the ridiculous DLCs Nintendo is really bent on making me dislike them.

"Put smiles on people's faces". Yeah right. But let's rip them off first.

Nintendo has gone full on into pure greed mode in 2025. We all saw that in early April as soon as we saw the $450 system and $70-$80 game prices for this gen.

Nintendo made a very conscious decision to turn their back on the past two decades of being the only affordable gaming option. In some meeting room Nintendo clearly decided 2025 was the year offering affordable products ends and everything now comes with a big markup. Of course the prelude to that was them never dropping the price on the Switch, even post-TotK as system sales really began to fall, and never did a Nintendo Selects to drop the prices on old Switch games to $30.

The console makers used to be a competition to make things cheaper to sell more, these days they are in a race to one-up each other in raising prices to become the most unaffordable ecosystem.

This whole craziness is why, after getting every other Nintendo console on launch day or as soon as I could get it (except the WiiU which I skipped), I feel no desire to buy Switch 2. Maybe that changes once a new 3D Mario and 3D Zelda hits in a handful of years, but even if I do eventually get the system, I'll probably end up with like a fifth of the number of Switch games I own, only getting absolute must-buys, and honestly if that day comes I may go for a used system to avoid their retail price which may never come down. And I could easily afford S2, I could go out and buy it today if I really wanted it, but I'm not gonna reward Nintendo for blatantly choosing greed over their consumers. Nintendo does NOT struggle to make profits, they make huge profit at the prices they already had before 2025, and yet they still chose a strategy to rip their fans off from now on. While I've always been a Nintendo gamer and a huge fan, I have the sense to not give into their absurd greed.

It's insane that none of you understand the inflation of the past 5 years or the cost of tariffs.  The bottom line for a company always needs to go up, if it goes down the stock goes down.  Nintendo makes almost all of its money from video games, where Microsoft makes most of it's money from AI these days.  Even with making most of it's money from AI, the operating ratio wasn't good enough for the stock holders and now all games are coming to all systems to try and make that Activision operating ratio.  It doesn't matter if your pay hasn't kept up with inflation, inflation still happened and is happening.  What you could buy for $100 in 2020 now costs $125.18.  And that doesn't include the 25% tariff.  And no, companies aren't going to just charge the US that 25% and leave everyone else alone.  it's going to raise prices everywhere so they don't have to raise the US price too high in it's best market.  Every country regardless of if they have a tariff will pay that increase to keep prices lower in the US.
