I think people don't understand the difference between a Nintendo Direct and a list of games.

The games shown in the Direct were overall GOOD. There was a lot of games and there was something for everybody. There were some nice surprises, more information on very anticipated games that are about to launch, etc.

But the Direct itself? Like... the act of watching a 1 hour long video? It was terrible. There were very long segments about a bunch of games that no one gives a shit about. There were announcements that outright pissed people off (DLC for Z-A before the game's launch, Virtual Boy being behind THREE FUCKING PAYWALLS (NSO, Expasnion Pass, VB Accessory), Switch 1 free upgrades of very minor games and not a single big third or first party (Xenoblade series? Astral Chain? Bayonetta 3? Metroid Dread/Remaster? Fixing Nier Automata's crashes one day? No?), announcing a cheap Pokémon farming game like if it was some big gun... and many more). They relied heavily on games that we already know a lot about and are releasing like... any time (Z-A, Metroid Prime 4, etc). They skipped games that were already announced and we still know nothing about (Rhythm Heaven Groove, Splatoon Raiders, etc).

Overall, the Direct was boring, annoying and lame. That's what people is complaining about. It's the "this could have been an e-mail" thing. Maybe not that extreme, but still.
