I feel like it must be pointed out that as of yet we do not know the motives or political leanings of the shooter.
It is certainly more logical that it was a left leaning person, but thats not necessarily the case. The Trump shooter was a republican who had previously supported Trump. Someone read Catcher in the Rye and thought he should kill John Lenon. Murderers are often not right in the head so who knows.
