I think it's less about VGC becoming more political and more about how the world has been rapidly spinning the drain due to the resurgence of regressive, conservative policies that threaten to peel back layers of rights we've fought for over the past few decades, all matched with the nonsense wars and economical issues with international partners. 

The world is just more exposed to politics now. 

It doesn't help that the US has a goddamn clown in office. 

Just give it a year and dt may have to leave by then. If the press is already starting to show articles worried about his mental ability then it won't take forever for trump to decide to vacate.
