The first Nintendo ip I played was Donkey Kong on the Coleco Vision.  I don't recall The year.  Several friends had Atari or an NES that I would play when over, but it was a little while before I got my own.  I purchased the NES around '87? from a department store called Nichols for around $150.  It was packed with SMB and Duck Hunt on one cartridge and the lightgun was orange, not gray.

I had an independant movie rental store nearby that had quite a variety of Nintendo games, and I recall playiing Q-bert, Joust, RC Pro-am, River City Ransom, Wizards and Warriors and Shadowgate.  Of course, I also had Zelda, Mario 2/3, Contra, Bad Dudes, P.O.W. Ninja Gaiden 1-3, Double Dragon...and the list goes on and on.

For anyone that complains about the cost of games these days, I recall my mother paying almost $60. after tax for the OG Zelda for my buddy's bday.  Almost 40 years later and games are only $70-$80.  It's an absolute steal, for the cost per hour of entertainment.
