I'd still say a high quality film from a legendary director would be the best promotion. 

I suspect the real reason is that he might have pushed back on some of the dumb shit Activision would want to insert, like those retarded clown skins the games have nowadays where you play as Nicki Minaj or the Ninja Turtles and shit.
