Easy answer: They can extort the population through manipulating politicians.

PACs and Super PACs are basically a way to buy votes legally, and if that is not enough, they can make "donations" to the politicians directly. The president is thus basically just a spokesperson for those corporations, who has just to do the bare minimum to keep the people somewhat happy/distracted to balance out all the handouts, both financially and legislatively.

Trump being a businessman means he understands their language and what they want - and it's pretty clear he's mostly doing their bidding when not talking about Ukraine or following Project 2025 stuff.
