Personally I have a real nostalgic attachment to cassette tapes, as when I was a kid my parents got me one, and I used it to record my favourite video game music off the TV, to make mixtapes of all my favourite songs for us to play in the car, or just recording my thoughts.
I owned a lot of music on CD as well, but the ease of recording on tapes during my childhood, (burning CDs didn't come in til later in my teens) means they hold a lot of my childhood memories.
