Would you recommend the 9th gen upgrade to someone still on 8th gen?

In the case of the Switch, going by succession alone doesn't make sense because it succeeds both Wii U and 3DS. In many ways it probably should be considered first generation of its form-factor. 

There is no easy answer. Probably the best is a dual generation, and that's messy enough.
