Platinum #27 - Death Stranding 2 @124hrs
Death Standing 1 had its critics, but I genuinely enjoyed it. It’s open world was pretty decent and it didn’t overstay its welcome to long, story was a mess like usual but it was one of my favourite games that year.
Death Stranding 2 tho, the story was a complete mess, more so than the first and I think I’m just tired of the out of left field scenes Kojima is known for. Open world gameplay was pretty much exactly like the first … just 50hrs fucking longer for no reason. There was zero reason to make getting 5* with facilities such a slow process when the facilities offered pretty much nothing to the story. I won’t say this was the worst game I’ve ever played, but as a sequel it was definitely worse than the first. Combat was a pain with the constant slow down, felt like a sideshow at times. Unlike the first I just didn’t find it’s open world gameplay as engaging and I really don’t want to touch anymore open world games for a while (I’ll be skipping Ghost of Yōtie for sure). Overall I’d rate DS2 a 6.5/10. As a platinum experience tho, maybe even less.
