Yeah they really need a strong rebrand, Trump’s approval is in the gutter which will help swing things in their favor but the Democratic Party as a whole has terrible approval as well so just running on “we’re not Trump†isn’t enough for long term success. They are seen as old and out of touch and stick too close to traditional means of messaging like broadcast/cable TV and print media when the world is rapidly moving towards getting their news from social media and podcasts. What they need to do is: -Push younger candidates who haven’t been in politics for 30-40 years and aren’t seen as status quo politicians from the Clinton/Obama/Biden eras and can use social media and podcasts to reach a broader audience and get their message out more effectively. -Strong emphasis on economic populism. Constantly talk about things that will help the working/middle class regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. “We’re going to bring down the cost & expand access to healthcare, housing, child care, education, etc. because this helps the middle class. We’re going to improve our roads, bridges, railways, transmission lines, etc. because this helps the middle class. We’re going to raise wages, strengthen unions, and invest in our workforce because this helps the middle class.†-Don’t get pulled into culture wars, I’m not saying to throw minorities or LGBT people under the bus but don’t make these things a prominent part of the message. When things like DEI or trans sports gets brought up, pivot back to economic populism, “Republicans are worried about the color of your skin, where you were born, what faith you practice, what pronouns you use, who you love and what you do with your body while I’m focused on making sure all Americans are able to get a good paying job, put a roof over their head, put food on the table, raise a family, go to the doctor, get an education and take care of loved ones.†|
100% agreed. This has been my view for a number of years.
Well articulated.
