This is another big reason why I haven't posted so much about it - other people are already saying what I would say. Unless I feel like I have something meaningful to add, or if I were to think that saying something a different way might be a good contribution, I'm not going to post anything. It takes a lot of time and energy to read up on these topics and write a post.
I don't know in the first place what all kinds of files that were found. It would be nice if there were lots of convenient files that would put people away, but that could also just be hopeful wishing and I don't really care for that kind of wishing.
And yeah, it feels like a lot of people are imagining some kind of convenient excel sheet myPedoFriendsWithBlackmail.xlsx and everything will be simple, and justice will be done. And that's certainly not the reality. Even if there was something somewhere, discovery and investigations take a long time. This wouldn't get wrapped up in a few weekends - these things can often take years.
I'm not optimistic enough to think that
a - there are enough meaningful files that were collected that will put people in jail
b - that the current Department of Justice would in good faith, at minimum investigate the people that did come out.
c - enough justice would be served even in the best of circumstance.
Even if I had the utmost faith in the integrity and competency of the administration, I still am not optimistic enough to believe that enough would happen.
And I don't have utmost faith in the administration. This is a wildly incompetent and corrupt administration - I would have taken the Bush administration 10x over this one.
