Prosecutors may not get everyone, but they’ll get a number of them, and perhaps all the worst ones. Some of these people are obvious and shouldn’t be Presidents or powerful countries or wealthy nobility. No one should be above the law in a country intended for the people, Even the ancients turned against tyrants and demagogues all the way back to at least Lucretia. it’s not a product of modernity, it’s a part of our long history of civilized humanity. |
Amendment to the above. Of course the victims should be protected in all ways possible. That includes a right to privacy. But they should also do their duty and testify against the perpetrators, and have protections from any assassination attempts or other forms of coercion with exceptional resources at their disposal considering the power the suspects hold.
