| Shaunodon said: So about two-thirds of their software revenue comes from third parties based on your estimate, the large majority of their income, not simply a tool to sell units and first part software. But the more impactful part is that right now third parties are over 80% of games sold on the system. Forget worrying about selling first party games for revenue, PS owners would lose 80% of the games they buy, and that's not even including Fortnite and other live-service/f2p games which account for a lot of PS user activity. What the hell would they even do with the system at that point? |
But conversely, Xbox and PC take all the third parties Playstation gets and people still choosing buying PS5 over Series S/X in a proportion that will end the generation 3:1 in favour of PS5. More than half of their best sellers being first party is a sign there is a dedicated audience specifically for Sony first party games, players who still buy third parties ocasionally but owns a PS5 for Sony's games in mind. This audience is probably something between 20 to 25 million players. This is the best I think Sony can move on the back of their first party games only
