lmao so basically Zenimax Online wasn't doing much of anything for 7 years. "Making a new engine..." we all know what that means, literally just updating the existing engine, and the actual new game you were supposed to be working on didn't even make it out of pre-production in all that time. So my conservative estimate of the game being 3 years away at the earliest was WAYYYYY too optimistic. Hell if I'm to take Ryuu's word for it, then 7 years dev for a new MMO isn't enough for me to expect a reveal trailer, soooo I guess we're talking another decade on top of the 7 years pre-production? Yes, I'm being a bit facetious here, but seriously....are we now still shocked and upset that this got canned?

Take the core team, update/transition ESO to the new/updated engine. Meanwhile, a design team can spin up pre-production on an established franchise that's a safer investment for the time it's gonna take to actually make a new game. Hell keep it sci-fi, you can integrate some of the ideas you already had along the way. Make a Starfield MMO, or hell why not take a crack at Halo or Gears...fuck it, if Bethesda is still into licensing shit, make a deal with the Warhammer guys and make an MMO of that. Figure it out in the next 6 months, do a normal fucking pre-production cycle, and you can start full production roughly 3 years from now and lost relatively minimal time to get a new game out, that will probably be more successful.
