Iran finally noticing Russian equipment is shit.

It could also simply be because they'd probably need to wait over a decade, if not over 20 years, to get those planes delivered, at which point they'd be totally outdated.

Russia will need to replace it's own losses first after the war and that would take many years, and only then would they honor the deal and send planes to Iran. That timeline is simply way too long for Iran, as Israel or the US could easily start hostilities again against them in the meantime.
