The war in Ukraine has shown that since rare and super expensive equipment is becoming a target more often by drones, that there may be a need to scale back quality. Mass, or numbers are becoming more important a d so is finishing the fight early in order to avoid a war of attrition.

I'd say it more highlights the need for some active protection systems that can target drones and loitering munitions effectively. Moving backwards isn't the right way out, you need a proper solution to the problem first.

For instance, during World War 1, Anthony Fokker developed a way to fire a machine gun through the propeller without damaging it, and gave it to the Germans, leading to what is known as the Fokker Scourge. The Entente didn't have such a system, but the French had older, softer bullets, so they armored the propeller to fire through instead. This was a workaround with older technology, but not the solution. Only after the Entente also got hold of this system did they level the playing field and fought the Germans on equal ground. Ukraine must do the same, not downgrade the equipment, but upgrade in a way to neutralize this scourge.
