Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in California is not about the protests.
It is about expanding his never-ending grasp for more power.
It is about moving this country toward authoritarianism. All Americans must stand together against this gross abuse of power.
Trump claims LA ‘under siege’ and defends sending in troops
Hundreds of US Marines have arrived in Los Angeles after another night of sporadic protests over President Trump's immigration raids. That's on top of the 2000 National Guard troops, a number which the administration has said may double.
It amounts to a significant and unusual escalation of domestic force. Mr Trump insisted the demonstrators were "paid insurrectionists", and accused the California governor Gavin Newsom of "causing a lot of death".
There are no reports of any deaths during the protests.
Mr Newsom condemned the decision to send in military forces as a "blatant abuse of power"
