Everyone keeps bringing up the price of hardware and software. But, Nintendo is still the cheapest hardware out of the big three. And all the 3rd party games are a lot cheaper. Mario Kart is the only one right now listed at $80. But if you want the game, most will buy the bundle which will only cost them $50 more. Honestly, the prices are not as bad as some people are making it out to be. 🎮 Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Titles (June 5, 2025)🟥 First-Party Titles

Here in the UK you can buy a PS5 digital edition for around 300-330 pounds and PS4 games start at just a few pounds for heavily discounted older titles and PS5 titles maybe starting at 10 pounds new online. Personally I'm not a fan of digital versions of consoles though I have to admit. I have seen the OLED version of the original Switch as an offer sell new for around 200 pounds (aliexpress HK stock) and the lite model of course well below 200 pounds. The lite model appears to make up about 20% of Switch sales worldwide. Worldwide disposable income has been going down hugely in recent years generally. However statistics show income after tax as disposable because that is the only data they have where as real disposable income is after you have paid for heating, mortgage, rent etc and this is the income that is dropping. The point is a significant percentage of people are becoming more price sensitive. There is always a wide spectrum of game prices on any format but the big games dictate how game pricing is perceived. Mario Kart World will definitely be what people are looking at as its by far the most important title in the Switch 2 line up so far. I think pricing will be an issue and it always is. I saw a report that the recent increase in pricing for the Xbox Series consoles has reduced their sales considerably (in the UK). It was already a format struggling against Playstation.
