Over three years ago I ordered a fiber optic internet connection (1,000 Mbps)... this week it was FINALLY activated!

Yesterday I tested it wireless (the router is in the first floor, my main PC is in the second floor):

Today I connected the PC and router with a 10-meter ethernet cable (temporarily laid through the two windows):

*more pics*

I'm still not sure if the additional speed is worth drilling through the floor to lay a permanent ethernet cable from 2nd to 1st floor.

Currently 500+ Mbps is fast enough for me and in a few years I could upgrade the Wi-Fi-6 router to a Wi-Fi-7 router with 6 GHz compatibility.

It took three years? That seems awfully long. In any case, congratulations for finally getting it.

Radeon won't gain significant market share with one off good generations. Especially considering the msrps they stated this generations seems to be limited to an initial batch of rebates and then goes up. They needed a reference design to anchor the prices so they are stable.

Really what needs to happen is similar to what happened with Amd vs Intel. Amd continued to provide great products at reasonable prices while Intel started to provide subpar products for dumb prices. Eventually Intel's downfall in the consumer space started with 11th gen while Ryzen 5000 and especially 5800x3d changed the perception of Ryzen from a value brand to a performance brand for gaming.

Blackwell is the first time in a long time Nvidia had this many fuck ups and Radeon had so little fuck ups. But remember how many fuckups RDNA3 had? A lot of issues. RDNA 2 was good but RDNA 1 had issues. Etc.

So if Nvidia continues to have issues with future gpu launches and Radeon continues to have little to none, then eventually... many years later I can see the tides turning.

Indeed. Things rarely change oernight, and it will take several wins for AMD and a similar amount of loses for Nvidia to see noticeable changes.

We can't forget that many people associates Nvidia with GPUs, and it will take a while to change that perception. Like with Intel.

I guess the way Nvidia will handle the Super refreshes will show us if the launch of Blackwell was a one time thing or if it's the new attitude we should expect from them.
