It was also to be expected really. I mean, it's 32 CU vs 54 CU, and 180W vs 245W. RDNA4 is a big step forward, but even if it wouldn't beat the 7700XT it would still be a great card at MSRP.
And like @JEMC said, in games the 9700(XT) performed much better than in those synthetic tests, so it may have a shot at beating the 7700XT in some games. And even if not, the increase over the 7600XT is impressive, especially considering the slightly lower TDP.
