Sony forecasts it will ship 15 million PlayStation 5 consoles for the current fiscal year that runs from April 2025 to March 2026. That would put lifetime shipment figures at 92.8 million units at the end of March 2026.
To compare, the PlayStation 4 had shipped 97 million units by the same amount of time, which would put the PlayStation 5 4.2 million units shipped behind the PlayStation 4.
Mind you this is if Sony hits the forecast exactly. It is possible they are being conservative due to the uncertainty with the Trump tariffs and the possibility of entering a recession.
