Really??? The title of the thread is "

Monster Hunter 2 did nothing for long term PSP sales in Japan."

that sounds awfully like "deny that MH has helped the PSP"..

no?

No, not at all. Short term sales boosts are a help to sales. You can have a short term sales boost while not having a long term sales boost. Monster Hunter helped the PSP with a short term sales boost.

there are TONS of evidence against it. Mostly things a diagram wouldn't be able to show (at least single diagram wouldn't show)

Things invovling

*a slow fall off of a console after re-design.
*slow world economy
*slow summer season.

To completely deny any credit MH have on PSP is like showing single diagrams saying GTAIV boosted Wii sales. (when in fact, we know it was strong supply that did the trick)

The diagrams actually show that there was no decline what-so-ever after the redesign though. The sales after the redesign, and before the release of Monster Hunter were stable save for the huge holiday boost. The slow economy does not seem to affect the sales of video game consoles. America is caught in all sorts of economic troubles and still the sales of the consoles are better than last year. The "slow summer months" were captured in chart 2, and show a stable 30k PSP sales throughout the entire summer. Further, the Wii has had the same sustained sales as it did last year during these "slow summer months" without a huge system seller. Got anything else?
