IT Infrastructure and Security
I create accounts/disable users, create email distribution groups, give them their permissions for what they need access to on the company's network, make sure no one compromises their computer/email/phone, deal with MFA and SSO, I also maintain the desk phone system for the company and the direct contact with our cellphone provider and network printer provider.
I got two guys who who set up equipment and I maintain the list of the equipment they set up for the Director , VP of IT and the company's CFO for the company's financial records for the fiscal year.
I work with the Network Admin and his assistant in terms of stuff like VPN access, Microsoft Azure, Email monitoring, firewall blocking sites/access, etc
I work with my supervisor to make sure we have inventory and report everything in our double (mon and wed) weekly meetings.
There's 14 people in our IT group but only 5 who directly works with Infrastructure and security (including me). The rest are application/software crew or the cable crew and the VP and director.
Company has over 1,500 employees and multiple branches/offices in the US and Canada.
Been with the company for 8 years - been promoted twice. I could go somewhere else and make more money with my skills and experience but my wife's hospital where she works is near where I work so our commuting time is better (using one car).
Also the company's very lax on letting me choose my schedule, work from home and off days - helped a lot when my wife was pregnant and all , when I needed to be at home for maintenance and when my dad passed away.
After I take care of some stuff this year - going to focus on getting certificates and study up material on stuff like Networking and Cybersecurity.
Edit: Plenty of OT - helps especially since my wife works 12 hours a day so about the time I finish up, she's done with her work too.
