Damn I hate console wars so much. I always have all consoles except this generation (I don't have an Xbox Series because I can play Xbox games on PC).
In my opinion, if you don't have much money, just build a mid PC, that way you can play current generation games from AAA companies, Xbox games and some Sony exclusives. PC has so many options to get some good deals on games, like Steam, Weekly free games from Epic, Humble Choice, bundles from Humble Bundle and Fanatical, etc. You can get some subscriptions too and if you don't have money, you can play new and old games illegally... if you know what I mean.
You can build a cheap mid PC with some Chinese parts from Ali or Teemu, like Xeon CPU, Chinese RAMs, Chinese SSD, a cheap PC case, Chinese AMD GPU or Intel Arc A580 and a good Power Supply.
