Trump nominates new US special envoy for combatting anti-Semitism
US President Donald Trump has named Yehuda Kaploun to be his “Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism”.
“Yehuda is a successful businessman, and staunch advocate for the Jewish Faith and the Rights of his people to live and worship free from persecution,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“With Anti-Semitism dangerously on the rise, Yehuda will be the strongest Representative for Americans and Jews across the Globe, and promote PEACE. Congratulations Yehuda!” he added.
Can't find a way though to live without prosecuting others.... Anti-semitism is dangerously on the rise because you changed the definition of anti-semitism to include everything you don't like, including criticism of genocide.
Trump administration seeks consent decree on Columbia over pro-Palestine protests: Report
As we previously reported, recent months have seen the Trump administration sanction Columbia University, including cancelling $400m in federal funding, over its alleged failure to crack down on anti-Semitism on campus during pro-Palestine protests last year.
Now, The Wall Street Journal reports that the Trump administration is working to force Columbia into a consent decree that would legally bind the school to follow federal guidelines on combatting anti-Semitism.
The newspaper, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, reported on Thursday that the potential consent decree is part of ongoing negotiations with the university to restore federal funding.
Any consent decree could last for years and would give a federal judge oversight for ensuring the school adheres to agreements on addressing anti-Semitism, the Journal said.
Palestinian-American developer quits Harvard council amid accusations of aiding Hamas: Report
Bashar Masri, a Palestinian-American businessman, has resigned from his position on the dean’s council at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, The New York Post has reported.
The report comes days after Masri was accused by nearly 200 Americans, including survivors and relatives of victims of the October 7 attacks on Israel, of providing assistance in constructing infrastructure that allowed Hamas fighters to carry out their deadly assault.
“Mr Masri has resigned from the Dean’s Council. The lawsuit raises serious allegations that should be vetted and addressed through the legal process,” the school reportedly said.
The plaintiffs in the suit, filed in the US District Court for Washington, DC, claim properties that the Palestinian American owned, developed and controlled concealed tunnels underneath them and had tunnel entrances accessible from within the properties, which Hamas used before and after October 7. Masri’s office called the lawsuit “baseless”.
