Best selling is still best selling; context is worth discussing, but it doesn't discount the end result. BOTW being the best selling Zelda game isn't suddenly null and void just because the Switch outsold the N64.

It's not a sure thing that Bananza will set a new series record, but it's still worth mentioning; this is a sales website after all.

I think a factor will be how much breathing space DK gets till the next 3D Mario comes out.

Mechanically they will offer different gameplay I assume, but they're both 3D platformers at hearth. If the (presumably) even shinier Mario launches this holiday, this might hurt DK's sales potential. But then this could be exactly the reason it would be a while we see a new 3D Mario.
