They really haven't been immune. They have just been charging you in other ways. Micro transactions, dlc, ultimate editions, putting launches behind a paywall, subscriptions, digital downloads. To be fair to nintendo, they don't actually tend to put micro transactions in full priced games, or have ultimate editions, or put launches behind a paywall. But they also have way lower development costs compared to a lot of other big developers.
