Nintendo is actually the company that reports their console shipping numbers very meticulously, even to the very end of a console lifecycle. As long as they ship at least 10k, it will be in the quaterly and fiscal year-end report. On top of it, they always update their total sales number on their "Dedicated Video Game Sales Units" homepage. If the Switch reaches 161 mil the ball will be in Sony camp to react. If Sony doesn't react, Switch will be the declared winner! |
Sony would probably hire Indiana Jones to find them another mil PS2s somewhere just to keep the record at this point. I doubt Nintendo are even paying attention.
