It's not a problem, because Dread is already an action side-scroller and is a great game as it is. But I think it's missing a core feature from Metroid, which is maze-like structures and backtracking to explore new secrets. Most of the prime games opened with more linear action orientated sections, followed by the more classic metroidvania style after. Especially prime 3. So I imagine this will be similar.
