It's option 1. The separate availability refers to three options you have to get only the upgrade pack when you've already bought the Switch 1 version of any given game digitally or physically. These are the eShop, the My Nintendo Store and brick and mortar retailers. In the latter case it's pretty safe to assume that it will be a download code. |

https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/featured-games/switch-2-edition/ "The Nintendo Switchâ„¢ 2 Edition of a game is a bundle that includes the original game and its upgrade pack, which enhances the game to take advantage of the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 system. Available only for select games."... ..."Features and content of a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game can only be played on Nintendo Switch 2." If it included a download for the upgrade pack or a mandatory install I assume they'd tell us somewhere. Also the fact that Switch 2 Edition can only be played on a Switch 2 leads me to believe it must be the red cart. I'm not completely confident though so it's worth keeping an eye on. |
That is how I interpreted it also. Some people seem to think the description on the box means original switch black cart + a download code. But I personally thing if that was the case it would be written as such to be more specific you are buying the original game cart with a code and it would probably be significantly cheaper.
