The PS3 suffered from more than just its high price. It suffered from the E3 "real-time gameplay" lies that set up completely unrealistic expectations and made Sony seem untrustworthy, then it had a terrible launch that was filled with mediocre games and 1 highlight in Resistance. At the same time as Sony's terrible launch lineup, the Wii was launching with a much more appealing lineup of games and a sense of pure fun, while the 360 got Gears of War, which was miles better than anything the PS3 had in 2006. Then people started to realize that despite the hype of the PS3 being the most powerful system ever with its cell processor, multiplats often ran worse on it than on the 360. It was a perfect storm of things going wrong.
