Doesn't europe have VAT or something to drive prices up? Or are those EU prices pre-VAT?

Yes, AFAIK the prices already include VAT in the EU. It's mandatory that they do.

Yeah, at least in Sweden everything is advertised for the price you pay. There are no surprise tax costs hidden. Nor is the tax written separately on the side in small font. The price tag has to include the tax.
I imagine its like that in every EU country.

I'm not sure if that's 100% known as this moment. I'm sure it would be since it's law. A user who lives in Germany in another thread is saying Switch 2 games will be 90 Euros. I'm trying to find more information. Would've been helpful if Nintendo put out a full press release statement going over pricing rather than randomly posting pricing on certain games without much context.

MK World being $80 is directly on Nintendo's website, but there's 3 asterisks next to the price saying "***Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. Actual price may vary" which doesn't help.

I need that info to decide then. I assumed EU prices would be lower before VAT is applied.

From what I can tell, digital content did not have VAT applied to them until 2015 in EU.
I don't know what the history of VAT is for physical games and consoles, but 15-20 years ago I feel like our prices were just about the same as US MSRP. So either they lowered the base price before VAT here, or the VAT laws changed along the way.

Certain goods fall under reduced VAT rates of 12%, 4% and 0%. But electonics and games (I think) are in the 25% bracket.

70 x 1.25 = 87,5
80 x 1.25 = 100

If VAT for games in Sweden is 25%, then they should cost more than they do in that image. Maybe they're actually in the 12% bracket?
Though each country have their own VAT rates, so this country's prices may differ from others in Europe.
