I've used my PSP for MP3s for sure but it was just for a little bit until I got myself into becoming a Apple product user with the iPod Classic. I wouldnt call it the reason why people jumped in droves for the PSP.
I remember a lot of people both online and offline getting PSPs not because of the library of games or it being a MP3 player but because of homebrew and modding.
People were playing SNES and GBA games more than the games on PSP lol.
Man, speaking of the PSP - I loved it due to that , the homebrew scene for the PSP was amazing. Dark_Alex being on the head of the scene was a great time.
2006 to 2012 were great years - both the DS and PSP's homebrew/modding scenes made it more exciting alongside the PS3/X360/Wii competition and flow of games coming out.
Anyways, my second most favorite portable of all time - and during that generation was my favorite portable system.
