I don't think there's nearly enough evidence to support the asset creation for a full-remake of just 1 of the Greek games, let alone all 6 of them. The assets visible in Valhalla wouldn't even cover half of the environments in Betrayal, and that's the smallest of all the Greek titles. Even if they were looking at a remake of 1, consider how much bigger in scope and locales GoW2 is. If anything, a remake of Betrayal or a spin-off title for Greece makes more sense in establishing more of the assets to be used for the Greek saga. Then, when combined with some stuff from Ragnarok, they could more easily get these potential remakes done. If anything, your 2 possible outcomes are very likely the same thing: a spin-off with Atreus exploring Greece centuries after Kratos left it (Ragnarok timeline), seeing how it's redeveloped and coming face-to-face with Athena to learn more about mask/ fissure w/ Odin. Because, this is an Atreus plotline, not a Kratos one. But that said, apparently this spin-off involves Kratos. So, my hope is still a betrayal remake. But i'll take whatever GoW comes next, for the most part.  |
Yeah it's very unlikely that this game is going to be about Atreus, not only because the rumors talk about greek Kratos/young Kratos but because it apparently will be a small scale project. Usually in those kind of projects you want to reuse as much assets as possible and Kratos code is already done and has all the complexity needed to offer a good experience. I don't count out the possibility of an Atreus game in the future (yet) but right now would be impractical.
