Best first year for a Nintendo console (pre-Switch)

SNES and it's not even close. It launched with the best launch game and best Mario game of all time. Super Mario World. SF II changed an entire genre and was a cultural phenom. I was there. Castlevania IV is the best in the series. Same for Contra III. F-Zero and Pilot Wings as new IPs. Both great games. SNES was magic from the day it launched until it's end.
