Not one part of my post states that. You can sell hardware to anyone, weather they are new or old to the eco system. If they create compelling hardware with amazing game value, then they don't need to be Xbox fans to but an Xbox.

Poor attempt at a deflection. I'll spell it out again as you really badly are trying to avoid the point here. --------- Microsoft already tried to add MAU's via forced Microsoft account requirement on their biggest game; Minecraft, and it added zero extra MAU's to the Xbox Eco System. Explain how on earth doing the same thing AGAIN but with other games will make a difference. |
You need to study buisness. It's not just them just adding accounts to Minecraft, it shows traffic on their networks, that's what these buisnesses want, is population. The more MAUs across all their games = server traffic.
See outside the console war box. Sony does the exact same thing on their PC releases. If it means nothing, then wouldn't waste their time.
Adding accounts was never meant to make people switch consoles, no one said that. Its internal advertisement, builds traffic, creates interests, and down the line can convince people to buy elsewhere but that isn't the sole reason they do it.
