I think FF XVI is great but yikes.
Square Enix needs to course correct. It's clear that the budget is probably too high, and the gameplay is not what people want.
Also, it's time to drop the timed exclusive deal with PlayStation and go day and date with PC as well as some Nintendo and Xbox versions when relevant.
And Final Fantasy VII Part 3 should be day and date on PC and possibly Xbox as well.
How much money could Sony give Square relative to these underwhelming sales figures? Is it worth it?

the thing is like 80-90% of the market share for final fantasy is probably on Playstation....
Also exclusives usually get a small boost, from more awareness about the game, marketing and such.

A potential trade off, by going multiplat could be some loss on Playstation side,
that and the "money hat" gift from sony, might mean going multiplat day and date, isn't worth it for them.
ontop of the extra costs with porting the games.

"is it worth it" ?

probably...I doubt xbox user, would make much of a difference here (like a drop in a bucket).
A bad game just does poorly everywhere.

It might be worth a small bit to go day and date on pc though. Potentially enough to not go exclusive with playstation.
Then theres the risk of it getting cracked early, and people playing it that way (and the loss of sales potential from such).
However xbox is a non factor in this (imo).

Only SE know, end of the day.
