The Halo franchise was actually at over 82M before Infinite released. This document was uploaded by Microsoft in June 2021.

Spoiler alert, I'm working on a Halo sales history video and does no one know how to read or collect any data about this franchise me included😂

MS said Halo 4 was "already the best-selling title of the critically acclaimed gaming franchise" after 2012 and no one cites this????

Halo 5 also sold more than most people think it did. Many people misjudged it's sales due to Microsoft stupidly releasing a first week revenue figure of $400m+ that included the $500 Halo 5 Xbox One limited edition console and microtransaction lootbox revenue, which people saw as a sign that Microsoft was trying to obfuscate lower software sales than earlier Halo games. Which the launch sales were lower than most of the earlier Halo games, especially Halo Reach and Halo 4, but not lower by a huge amount, Frank O' Connor revealed that Halo 5 sold 5m copies in the first 3 months, which isn't bad considering that Halo 5 released early in the generation when Xbox One had only sold like 19m units, compared to Reach releasing to around 45m Xbox 360's and Halo 4 releasing to like 71m Xbox 360's.

Michael Pachter also revealed that Microsoft told him in a private conversation in 2017, more than a year after release, that Halo 5's sales up to that point were on par with earlier games, which suggests that Halo 5 legged well after the initial 5m in 3 months.
