In a new bill filed in the US House of Representatives, Congressmen Gus Bilirakis and Bran Schneider are asking the State Department to change the categorization of Turkey and move it from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs to the Bureau of the Middle East.

To date, Turkey has been classified by the US State Department as a “European country.” If the bill is adopted, it would be placed in the same diplomatic category as Iran, Syria and Libya. This bipartisan initiative in Congress is intended to send a message that Washington is carefully monitoring Ankara‘s strategic drift away from the Western camp.

Specifically, the bill requires the State Department to redefine Turkey’s diplomatic status within 90 days and report on the consequences of its withdrawal from Europe.

Gas Bilirakis

“Turkey is showing complete disregard for the observance of international law. Erdogan is systematically acting against American interests and his behavior is exacerbating the already unstable situation in the region. It is time for official U.S. foreign policy to begin to reflect the new reality.”

Bran Schneider

Turkey is at a crossroads, but Erdogan has made his choice. His government is protecting Hamas operatives, strengthening Putin’s war machine and preventing NATO unity – while still demanding the privileges of a Western ally. It’s time for American diplomacy to stop pretending that Turkey is still part of Europe.

Turkey has made a clear choice: it no longer sees itself as a European country, nor does it act as a loyal ally of the West. However, U.S. diplomatic structures have not adapted, allowing Turkey to maintain an influence on U.S. foreign policy that no longer reflects reality. Congressmen Snyder, Bilirakis, Gottheimer, Malliotaki, Pope and Titus are taking a necessary step to align U.S. strategy with reality – recognizing Turkey for what it is, not what we hoped it would be.

USA: Bipartisan Bill in the House Calls For Türkiye to be Categorized as a Middle Eastern Country

American politicians continue to focus on the important issues to Americans, such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico and now, designating Türkiye as a Middle-Eastern country because Türkiye upset Israel. America: Making Israel & Russia Great Again. Americans though, well they better suck it up and suffer because Trump is upset about trade deals he made in his first term.

I'm not exactly a fan of Erdogan but these days I'd trust Türkiye more than I'd trust America, I have issues with Türkiye both domestically and internationally and would never want to see them in EU under Erdogan. Having said all of this, I think this is a load of gaslighting horseshit, the #1 destabiliser of the Middle-East is America, and yes, Türkiye doesn't help either, I don't like their hatred of the Kurds, but ironically when it comes to Europe, Türkiye lately is doing far more for Ukraine and Europe than America.

To suggest that Türkiye is aiding Putin, despite everything that Trump has just done recently is bollocks, look closer to home, Türkiye was literally just in a proxy war against Russia in Syria and before that, Libya, if it weren't for Türkiye, they'd be Russian ships filling up the Black Sea turning Ukraine to rubble and Türkiye has been a strong vocal supporter of Ukraine in many aspects. They come out with these attacks on Türkiye literally the moment Türkiye actually is becoming a stronger supporter of Europe, offering their military cooperation, hmm, interesting timing.

What feels like the true reason for this, is because Türkiye is telling Israel to fuck off with their land grabbing in Syria, I don't buy any of the other bullshit explanations they gave and even more reason I don't believe it is because of this: "Gus Bilirakis and Bran Schneider - co-chairs of Congressional Hellenic Israel Alliance (CHIA)." Lmfao. Of course. There it is.

Ironically this bill comes at a time where Türkiye is growing closer to Europe than ever before, I don't even like Erdogan, think he is a massive twat, but moves like this from America are going to end up pushing Türkiye even closer into Europe's alliance, Lol. Fuck sake, America got me defending Erdogan of all twats.

Got to take a shower after defending Türkiye, I know I can never trust Erdogan, Erdogan does what is best for Erdogan, that tends to be fucking over Russia but you can't trust someone who bases all their decisions like that, but I can clearly see the only reason America is upset is because Turkiye is upsetting Israel. America has no right to speak about Europe after what they've done and criticise other countries, fact is Turkiye is a FAR better supporter of Europe than America under Trump, like leagues ahead. Turkiye literally just offered to join a post-NATO European military alliance so save us the bullshit and give it to us straight "We're mad at Türkiye because Israel told us to be"
