Another Republican, Rep. Andy Barr of Kentucky, said that Musk went so far as to emphasize that not only had DOGE not recommended mass termination of probationary employees, but that he thought some federal agencies were either incompetent or sabotaging the effort. Musk told them he wanted more precise terminations of those not performing.

U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) President Ward Brehm sued the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Thursday over its attempted takeover of the agency a day earlier. 

Brehm asked in the Thursday lawsuit, which was filed by Democracy Forward, a liberal-leaning legal group, for a preliminary and permanent injunction to bar DOGE workers from accessing the agency’s building and removing Brehm as the USADF’s head.

A federal judge on Thursday reversed the firing of a National Labor Relations Board member by President Donald Trump, with a scathing ruling that said "an American president is not a king."

The ordered reinstating former NLRB chair Gwynne Wilcox came a month after she sued to be returned to the board.

"The President does not have the authority to terminate members of the National Labor Relations Board at will, and his attempt to fire plaintiff from her position on the Board was a blatant violation of the law," Judge Beryl Howell wrote in the order Thursday in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
