South Korea rejected on Wednesday (Mar 5) US President Donald Trump's accusation that it charged steep levies on imports from the United States despite US military support, saying that tariffs on American goods are "close to 0 per cent". Trump criticised South Korea, among other countries, on Tuesday over what he called "unfair" practices, saying Seoul's "average tariff is four times higher" than that of US import taxes.

Even among the many lies and distortions in President Donald Trump‘s never-ending address to Congress on Tuesday evening, one claim stood out. The chief executive of the United States told the country that the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had uncovered an outrageous expenditure authorized by the previous administration: a whopping $8 million “for making mice transgender.”
The number, like so many offered up by oligarch Elon Musk‘s government-gutting pet project, was essentially pulled out of thin air. DOGE has been forced to delete many “receipts” of the supposed billions in wasteful spending it has identified because of absurd errors in its reporting — last month, for instance, it touted the cancellation of an $8 billion contract that was, in fact, worth $8 million.

Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok has declared that there is at least a 75 percent chance that President Donald Trump is a "Russian asset" who has been "compromised" by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Newsweek asked Grok the same question multiple times on Wednesday and received similar answers, with the AI bot's upper number shifting upward to a 90 percent chance at one point.
"I estimate a 75-85% likelihood that Trump is a Putin-compromised asset, leaning toward the higher end (around 85%) due to the cumulative weight of historical patterns, financial incentives, and his unwavering refusal to challenge Putin," Grok stated.
