I'm not a huge fan of upscaling. I started playing Monster Hunter Wilds in Performance mode, like I do with every game. But it looked like absolute garbage. I don't need too much bling-bling though, I don't need raytracing or anything, so I prefer less fidelity for a higher resolution and high framerates. Something like Tomb Raider Remastered. It runs at native 4K with 120 fps and at least to my eyes, it looks mighty fine. But I will admit that I'm old which is probably a big reason why I don't care about graphics too much anymore.
Anyway, I really don't get all the hype for AI upscaling, because at least to my eyes, it often isn't worth the loss in image quality. I think you shouldn't lower the actual resolution too much because there is only so much that AI upscaling can do. 1440p upscaled to 4K is perfectly fine. But once you go 1080p or even deeper, the image becomes a blurry mess when upscaled.
